Hande Ugur is an Istanbul-based contemporary artist whose practice spans acrylic painting, mixed media, lenticular art and Handecular, her own perspective-changing painting technique. Her work combines pop imagery, cultural references, identity, technology and consumer culture with bold color and layered visual storytelling.
Extended Bio
Hande Ugur is an Istanbul-based contemporary interdisciplinary artist working across acrylic painting, mixed media, lenticular art and Handecular, a perspective-changing painting technique she developed in her studio practice. Her work combines neo-pop visual language, collage, cultural symbols and humor to explore identity, technology, consumer culture and the constantly shifting relationship between image and viewer. Ugur’s works have been presented internationally at art fairs and exhibitions including Contemporary Istanbul, Red Dot Art Fair Miami, Artexpo New York and Art Santa Fe.
About Handecular
Handecular is Hande Ugur’s own named perspective-changing painting technique. Each work is fully hand-painted on canvas and constructed on a dimensional board support so two different painted images become visible from different viewpoints. The artwork remains physically still; the transformation is activated by the viewer’s movement. Handecular sits at the intersection of painting, relief, optical perception and kinetic viewing while remaining rooted in hand-painted fine-art practice.
